Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an entry fee for the Nanaimo VegFest?

The Nanaimo VegFest is free for all to attend! We will be collecting donations to support the ongoing viability and growth of the festival.

Can I be a vendor at VegFest if I am not vegan?

Yes. You are welcome to be a vendor regardless of your own choices provided that all items you bring to and promote at VegFest are entirely plant-based and cruelty-free. We ask that you embrace being ‘Vegan-for-the-Day’ at our event.

Are dogs or other pets allowed at VegFest?

We love our furry friends, and as this event is at a park, we would love to see those furry faces!

Where can I park when I arrive at VegFest?

The parking lot at the event fills up quickly. Here’s a map with details of parking nearby.

Are there any food vendors that cater to gluten-free diets?

Yes. We ensure that our vendor selection is inclusive, and you will find gluten-free options available.

Can I volunteer at VegFest?

Absolutely! We are always grateful for volunteer support. Please Apply here.

I have food allergies. Will there be safe options for me?

If you have severe allergies, it’s always best to communicate directly with the vendor before consuming.

Are there activities for children at VegFest?

Yes. We will have a bouncy castle, Craig the Magician will entertain the children, plus there will be face-painting and other family-friendly activities and spaces dedicated to younger VegFesters. All are welcome!

Will there be live cooking demonstrations?

Not this year, but we will work on cooking demos for future events.

Are reusable containers allowed for food and drinks from vendors?

We highly encourage bringing your own reusable containers and cutlery to help reduce waste and support our sustainability initiatives.

Will there be any seating areas to enjoy food?

Yes. There will be some tables and chairs where you can relax and enjoy your plant-based finds from our amazing vendors. We also encourage you to bring a blanket as there are several nice grassy areas where you can set up an outdoor picnic and enjoy your food while listening to our VegFest guest speakers.

What happens if it rains on the day of VegFest?

VegFest will go on, rain or shine! So come prepared with weather-appropriate gear just in case!

How can I tell if the vendors at VegFest are entirely vegan?

Just chat with them or check them out online—the vendor list is tagged where possible. Every vendor at VegFest is committed to only offer vegan food for VegFest.

Why do you include non-vegan vendors at a vegan festival?

We’re trying to create change. Our first two years being inclusive to non-vegan vendors resulted in more and better vegan options for our community – that’s a win in our books!

Are there a lot of food trucks coming to VegFest? I remember the long lines from last year.

Yes. We’ve got a tasty lineup of food trucks and other vendors. While lineups are typical in festival events, we will be doing our best to keep things moving quickly. Here’s a list of the vendors this year.

Thinking about expanding VegFest to Victoria?

We have! VegFest Victoria will be held at Ship Point on August 16th this year. Fill out a volunteer form if you’re keen to help make it happen. For any further questions or information, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at hello@positivelyvegan.ca. We can’t wait to see you at Nanaimo VegFest! 🌿✨💫
